Overview
MakeTeamWork collaborated with an IBM Design team to strengthen their team dynamics, effectiveness, and stakeholder management skills. The Stakeholder Management Workshop was designed to help the team identify key stakeholders, understand mutual needs, and develop an action plan to improve relationships and operational efficiency.
Challenge
IBM Design teams work in complex environments where clear communication and effective stakeholder management are critical for project success. Balancing multiple stakeholders with diverse needs can lead to misunderstandings, misaligned expectations, and inefficiencies. The challenge was to equip the team with the tools and strategies to navigate these relationships more effectively and enhance their collaborative impact.
Approach
We facilitated a workshop that guided the IBM team through a structured process of stakeholder mapping and needs analysis. The session began by identifying and prioritising key stakeholders, followed by in-depth discussions on each stakeholder’s unique needs and expectations. The team also examined their own needs in relation to these stakeholders, building a clear picture of the dynamics at play.
With this foundation, the group collaborated to design an action plan focused on enhancing communication, setting clear expectations, and creating routines for ongoing engagement.
Outcome
The Stakeholder Management Workshop provided the IBM Design team with a practical, actionable framework for managing stakeholder relationships more effectively. The team left with a customized action plan that addressed both stakeholder needs and internal team dynamics, positioning them to build stronger, more efficient relationships. This new approach to stakeholder management is expected to improve team cohesion and project success, aligning all parties toward common goals.
