Overview

Global Instruments Producer is an industry leader in manufacturing precision instruments, serving clients worldwide with a commitment to quality and innovation. To support sustainable team growth and process improvement, they recognise the importance of regular reflection and strategic planning. For their annual reflection, we designed and facilitated a 4-hour program to help the team consolidate insights, reflect on past experiences, and develop actionable recommendations to enhance efficiency and innovation moving forward.

Challenge

How might we help a team reflect on their experiences and create strategic recommendations to implement almost immediately?

As the new year started, the team needed a structured approach to evaluating their past year’s work, identifying areas for improvement, and establishing clear, actionable priorities. The challenge was creating a session to promote meaningful insights and immediate, actionable steps to keep the momentum strong.

Approach

We crafted a four-hour program divided into two main segments: a two-hour Yearly Retrospective and two hours of focused action planning. During the Yearly Retrospective, participants engaged in deep reflection, sharing feedback on successes, challenges, and areas for improvement over the past year. This phase allowed the team to view their collective experiences and build shared understanding.

Participants broke into smaller groups in the action planning phase to brainstorm practical, achievable steps to address key insights from the retrospective. Through focused discussion and collaboration, each group defined specific actions and prioritised steps for the team to implement.

We used a customised MURAL template for the yearly retrospective, which helped structure the process and facilitate collaborative reflection.

Outcome

The structured retrospective enabled the team to articulate a clear, shared vision of their past year’s achievements and identify targeted areas for improvement. By the end of the session, they had generated a set of strategic recommendations crafted collaboratively that they could implement almost immediately. This approach fostered alignment and empowered the team to enter the new year with renewed focus and a clear roadmap for continued growth and innovation.
