Krealo: Building Innovation Leadership Capability Across a Venture Portfolio

Overview

Krealo, Credicorp’s Corporate Venture Capital arm, partnered with MakeTeamWork to strengthen the innovation leadership capability of venture CEOs across its portfolio.

While feedback culture was the visible entry point, early self-reflection surfaced a deeper ambition: leaders wanted to make better decisions under uncertainty, lead innovation deliberately, and shape healthier leadership dynamics inside fast-growing ventures.

Feedback was treated not as a soft skill, but as a strategic mechanism for learning, alignment, and innovation execution.

Challenge

Portfolio leaders operated in: High-growth, high-uncertainty environments

Constant decision pressure with limited space for reflection

Tension between speed, trust, and accountability

Feedback that existed, but lacked strategic intent and learning value

The challenge was not how to give feedback; it was how leaders show up, influence innovation trajectories, and steer their projects intentionally in complex conditions.

Approach

A 10-week innovation leadership journey, designed around real venture pressure and decision-making contexts: Structured self-reflection to surface leadership patterns, assumptions, and blind spots

Practical frameworks connecting feedback, psychological safety, authority, and learning

Facilitated peer dialogue and retrospectives grounded in live venture dilemmas

1:1 coaching focused on leadership judgment, innovation leadership, and decision quality — not behaviour correction

The cohort itself became a high-trust learning system, enabling leaders to test thinking, challenge assumptions, and learn from each other’s innovation realities.

Outcome

  • Leaders gained sharper awareness of how their leadership enables or blocks innovation
  • Feedback became more intentional, timely, and strategically useful
  • Psychological safety strengthened without diluting accountability or performance expectations
  • Participants reported greater confidence in navigating ambiguity, tension, and innovation trade-offs

Feedback evolved from a communication tool into an innovation leadership lever, supporting clearer decisions, faster learning, and more resilient venture leadership.
