Crystaliq, a photo editing app, partnered with us to gain a deeper understanding of their users and develop a compelling value proposition. Using a human-centered design approach, we conducted user interviews, think-aloud testing, and journey mapping to identify key insights and refine the user experience. Strategic workshops with the founders helped align the team and validate value proposition hypotheses. As a result, Crystaliq achieved a stronger product-market fit, ultimately leading to a successful market exit.

Approach
We employed a human-centred design and research approach to help Crystaliq unlock more profound insights into its audience and product experience. The critical steps in our process included:
• User Interviews: We conducted in-depth interviews to understand user motivations, pain points, and overall experience with photo editing apps, providing valuable insights into their needs.
• Think-Aloud Testing: Observing real users interact with the app in think-aloud sessions allowed us to identify friction points and usability issues in real time, leading to actionable improvements.
• Customer Journey Mapping: We created a detailed journey map highlighting every user interaction step with Crystaliq—from discovery to daily usage. This process revealed critical opportunities for enhancing user engagement and refining key touchpoints where the app’s value could be better communicated.
• Strategic Facilitation with Founders: Through facilitated workshops, we aligned the founding team strategically, refining the product’s features, user experience, and overall market positioning.
• Value Proposition Hypotheses: Based on our insights from research and customer journey mapping, we co-developed value proposition hypotheses, which were tested with diverse audience segments to validate appeal and user resonance.
Outcome
Through continuous innovation and a deep focus on the user experience, Crystaliq successfully refined its value proposition and achieved a strong product-market fit. This work positioned the app for a successful exit, allowing the founding team to exit the market confidently, knowing that their product resonated with its target audience and created lasting value.
